This is the Content Loader for movies, news and games for a server based IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) system that used fiber optics rather than copper to each seat’s HD touch panel display. It was typically mounted in the cabin, easily accessible to the crew, such as in an overhead bin compartment. The drive was shock mounted to handle in-flight vibration and turbulence while transferring it’s 2 terabytes of movies to the central servers. The shock mounted drive could easily be removed to update the movie selection on the aircraft. A USB thumb drive was used to update the news daily.
